Had such an awesome weekend at the Kill Cliff Granite Games competing with Team Tasty, made up of myself, Grace Dresher, Travis Mayer, and Aaron Hannah. Couldn’t have asked for a better team! A few more years of individual competition and I’m thinking some team stuff will be fun!
Some of the best highlights of the weekend:
Just being out on the competition floor again! Working out is one thing, but competition is a totally different exhilaration. I missed it!
Competing with other amazing people! Here Sara Sigmundsdottir and I are laughing at Sam Briggs because of the welt on her head. She hit herself in the head with an empty barbell in warm-ups during the individual competition. It’s ok she still won that event!
Matching a PR on my snatch in the Oly meet! We had three attempts like a regular meet so I went 165, 175, and was originally going to go 185, but things felt so light that day I went 190 and got it! Afterwards it was great to watch Grace PR her clean and jerk by 10lbs. at 225, and Travis match his snatch PR at 275lbs. We all made all of our lifts and got second in that event.
Ok so aside from the PR the real coolest part was winning the competition. I knew we’d have a good shot and we were all ecstatic to come away with the win!
This even taught me that people have stepped up their game since I’ve been gone and I’ve still got a lot of work to do. Excited to get back to the gym and train!
